Travelling in Vietnam during Tet is possible, but meals, intercity transport and holiday booking terms need earlier attention. Public-sector holiday dates and the opening days of a private restaurant are different information.
Keep each country’s calendar separate
The Korean Seollal date and Vietnamese Tet date should not be assumed to match every year. For 2027, consult the Korean official calendar announcement and Vietnam government holiday information separately. A proposal or public-sector schedule is not confirmation that every tourism business follows the same closure.
Confirm final official announcements and the dates of the actual service before paying for non-refundable bookings. Do not reuse a previous year’s fireworks or attraction schedule as a confirmed 2027 event.
Meals and transport need a backup
The Vietnam tourism authority’s Tet guide explains the impact of holiday travel and early-festival closures. Ask restaurants directly about the intended date, kitchen hours and reservations. A map app’s normal opening status may not reflect a temporary holiday closure.
Confirm hotel breakfast and dinner, then keep a second nearby meal option. For pickups, confirm the vehicle, holiday surcharge, flight-delay waiting and emergency contact. For attractions, check the exact date and admission session rather than assuming that a familiar name guarantees normal operation.
Family stays: confirm what the booking includes
For a Da Nang villa, list the real adults and children, opened bedrooms, bed layout, breakfast count and shared-facility access. In accommodation consultations, the operator repeatedly checks whether a resort-complex villa is operated by the resort or by a separate owner, because services can differ.
A shared living room can help during a rest period, but does not replace a meal plan. Keep a lighter day or indoor option if a restaurant closes or the weather changes.
Read surcharges as items, not a universal percentage
There is no single holiday increase that applies to every hotel, driver or restaurant. Compare the total for the same guests and dates. Ask about taxes, extra beds, children’s breakfasts and any compulsory celebration meal. For cars, separate waiting, luggage and child-seat requirements.
A sensible preparation order
Confirm flights and accommodation first, then the first dinner and airport transfer. Add flexible sightseeing around them. Reconfirm key opening times before departure and save confirmations offline. Staying in one area can reduce exposure to intercity transport changes.
Will every restaurant be closed?
No. The practical issue is whether your chosen restaurant opens on your date. Confirm it and retain an alternative rather than treating the whole country as open or closed.
