Hanoi airport to your hotel: bus 86, taxis and private pickup

The easiest transfer from Noi Bai Airport depends on your arrival time, luggage and hotel location. A solo traveller with a light bag may prefer the bus; a family arriving late may value a direct drop-off. Compare the whole journey to the hotel door, rather than a bus ticket against an incomplete car quote.

Check the airport and terminal

Hanoi’s airport code is HAN. International flights use T2 and domestic flights use T1, according to Vietnam Airlines’ airport guide, checked on 22 October 2026. A direct international arrival and an arrival after a domestic connection need different meeting instructions.

Bus 86: check the final stop and walk

ANA’s airport transport guide describes crossing the road in front of the T2 arrivals hall and looking to the right for the bus 86 sign. Follow current signs and staff directions because airport boarding arrangements can change.

Official airline guides differ on fares as well as timetables. The VND 45,000 figure is Vietnam Airlines’ reference; confirm the fare locally. Therefore, this guide does not present one timetable as a guaranteed last bus. Check the service for your travel day and again on arrival. A late landing time alone does not tell you whether you can catch it after immigration and baggage reclaim.

Find the most suitable stop for your actual hotel before boarding. Ask the crew to confirm it, and check the route with luggage in mind. Rain, tired children or an awkward final walk can outweigh the saving. A bus towards central Hanoi is not necessarily a door-to-door Old Quarter hotel transfer.

Taxi or app car: confirm the complete price

Use a registered airport taxi queue or the pickup location shown by your chosen app. Check the driver and plate against the booking, and send the exact hotel map pin and address. Similar hotel names can cause mistakes. For taxis, establish whether the fare is metered or a confirmed total and ask about airport, parking or road charges. For app cars, read the price conditions rather than assuming everything is included.

A practical family calculation

If four passengers each need a VND 45,000 ticket, the bus tickets total VND 180,000 before any final transfer. This is an arithmetic example without child concessions; check the relevant ticket rules for your group. Compare that with a vehicle that actually fits everyone and their bags. Four available seats do not guarantee room for four large suitcases.

Hotel pickup and the return journey

Give the hotel the flight number, local arrival date and time, terminal, passenger count and bag sizes. Pickup availability does not mean it is free. Confirm the total, payment method, driver meeting point, delay allowance and backup contact. For an after-midnight arrival, separately confirm the room’s check-in date.

For departure, verify the terminal and the airline’s check-in deadline. Add waiting, loading and airport walking time to the road journey. The shortest map estimate is not a sensible guaranteed departure plan.
